Sooglossidae :
Small family comprised of 2 genera, Sooglossus and Nesomantis, and are the only members of Neobatrachia to display inguinal amplexus (a primitive form of amplexus, also found in the sister family Nasikabatrachidae). Members of this family are generalized small-medium sized frogs that are endemic to the Seychelles and most closely related to the recently described family Nasikabatrachidae. Sooglossids are secretive frogs that hide in leaf litter and rock crevices. Generally, they are not active on the surface except during rains. Each species has a distinctive call. Females of Sooglossus seychellensis and S. gardineri display parental care. Direct and larval development are present in this family. Sooglosids also possess tarsal sesamoid bones.
